The result is this interesting book about her family’s search and discovery.

Adrielle Griffin and Olivia: Adrielle is the Communications Manager of Completely KIDS, an Omaha nonprofit whose mission is to develop youth and their families through out-of-school time. Serves more than 2,000 children and their families in the Omaha area. Olivia is an 11 year old and teaches her own music club, called ‘Sing It Dance It’.
Patrick Kilcoyne and Wai Yim. Patrick and Wai are actors and singers who are in the Rose Theater’s production of “Narnia”, a CS Lewis classic children’s novel. There is an afternoon show today at 2:00, Sunday at 2:00 and Thurs and Friday evenings until December 29.

Susan Eustice: Director of PR and Communications for the Salvation Army Western Division, based in Omaha. She speaks about how the Salvation Army is trying to help people in our community and surrounding states.
Mary Carrick: A very talented vocalist and cabaret singer whose first album will be released in the spring. Mary sings musical theater, country, jazz , folk and more. Her cabaret shows, with pianist Todd Brooks have been captivating audiences for years.

Paul Horsted: Photographer and author of two new books: ‘Yellowstone Yesterday & Today’ and ‘The Black Hills Yesterday & Today’. He will be in Omaha on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7:30pm at the Sheraton Omaha Hotel for a free program to promote these one of a kind memorable works.
Julie Schram: A local artist who excels in intricate pencil drawings. She can also draw memorial portraits of people who are not living. Her current show is in Fremont at the Gallery 92 West.
Mark Thornburg: He is the bass singer of the Omaha Prime barbershop quartet. Celebrate the season with their Dec. 1st show at 4:00pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Their free Christmas Benefit Concert is Sunday Dec. 15th at 4:00pm at Faith Westwood Methodist Church.

Mark Duin: Mark went from being a ninth grade dropout and drug addict to being a corporate executive. His has written and published two five-star rated books on Amazon.com.
Bryan McClure: A Council Bluffs native, he has been cast in a lead role in “Space Command,” a new independent sci-fi project. He won the role after beating out more than 1200 applicants. He got the acting bug in 2007 when he was an extra on the Omaha set of “Lovely Still.”
Betty & Jack Golmanovich: Husband and wife performers who entertain with a carousel organ and an organ grinder monkey. You’ll have to listen to the show to find out if the monkey is real or not!

Mary Murphy: A very unique Omaha/ New York artist who puts “visual poetry on canvas”. She displays her paintings in a beautiful gallery in the Master Craft Building in Omaha. Marry commented, “I didn’t chose art. It chose me.”
Bruce Arant: A writer and illustrator, Arant’s colorful book: ‘Simpson’s Sheep won’t Go to Sleep!” just came out. With his 3 kids, he had years of experience “tucking in” at bedtime, fielding all possible childhood excuses to stay awake. Arant enjoyed a career of nearly 20 years in the magazine and custom publishing industry. Starting on November 22nd, Arant and his delightful book will be at Barnes and Noble at Oakview Mall.
Julie Crowell: Omaha is so lucky to have such a talented singer and actress. Julie just played the role of Fantine in ‘Les Miserables’ at the Omaha Community Playhouse. She won the Fonda-McGuire Award for each of these OCP roles: Eliza Doolittle in ‘My Fair Lady’, Guenevere in ‘Camelot’ and Julie in ‘Carousel’.
Jeff Koterba: Omaha World-Herald syndicated political cartoonist, author of ‘Inklings’ and guitarist and songwriter for ‘Prairie Cats’.
Tommy Nocerino: Author of a historical novel, ‘Lamplight’. It has great insight into the ‘War between the States’ and all that took place in our country at that time. Tommy will be at the Bookworm on Sat. November 16th, signing his book.
Ellen Struve: She is an award-winning, prolific playwright. In April, her play ‘Nobody Gets Paid’ had its premiere at the Shelterbelt Theatre. The Omaha Community Playhouse produced her play, ‘Recommended Reading for Girls’ in May of 2013. It received fantastic reviews and she is working on two more plays.

The Talbott Brothers: The combined musical talents of Nick and Tyler Talbott will be displayed tonight at The Lauter Tun as they play guitar and sing their original songs. They just released their 2nd CD and have been touring nationally to promote it. Jody and Karen are proud to have them sing on their show.
Dan Susman and Andrew Monbouquette: Filmmakers from Omaha who just completed their first movie: GROWING CITIES: A film about urban farming in America. There is a special one-night only screening at Film Streams Ruth Sokolof Theater this Tuesday, October 29th.

Ingra Winkler Anderson: Do you love to sing? Ingra is a longtime member of the Acappella Omaha Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. The chorus has more than 40 female members who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun! They sing at community events and at an annual competition and at your next event! Courtney Kenny: “As Pablo Picasso once said, “The world today does not make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?” Courtney has a passion for the unexpected. Her drawings and paintings often contain imagery and situations that are not possible. She calls her work ‘unrealistic realism’. Humor also plays a large part in her work and most of her paintings are black and white. Simon Winchester: He is a brilliant world renowned historian and a New York Times bestselling author. (and a lot of fun to talk to!) Rachel Jacobson: The founder and director of Film Streams Ruth Sokolof Theatre. (and our sponsor!) Mark Thornburg: He has many important roles in the Omaha Community Playhouse production of ‘Les Miserables’. Mark plays the Bishop and has 11 other parts, with 13 clothes changes. ‘Les Mis’ has gotten rave reviews and plays until October 27th.
Angie Thorell: She will speak about the Lauritzen Gardens upcoming Antique and Garden show – from Thursday night, Sept 26th to Sunday Sept. 29th. A major fundraiser for the Gardens, with many valuable speakers and lots of antiques for sale!
Chuck Penington: Musical conductor for Mannheim Steamroller, Chuck joins us again to tell us about the October Aksarben Coronation. He is the song arranger and orchestra conductor. He is an iconic figure in Omaha’s music scene.
Patrick Roddy: A nationally renowned choreographer, Patrick teaches tap and jazz at Creighton University. He has choreographed for local theatre and dance companies for 30+ years. He worked and studied professionally in New York and Los Angeles for 14 years. Highlights for Patrick were working with Mitzi Gaynor and Ginger Rogers. Karen met Patrick when he choreographed her musical about the late Princess Diana, shown at Joslyn Museum, and has been in awe of his work ever since.

Teresa Hamilton: Mother of 4 small children who wrote: ‘It’s Okay – Let’s Get Real About This Thing We Call Parenting’. This is a collection of true stories about life with young children – “humorous parent screw-ups”. Hamilton writes, “Everyone is the perfect parent until they actually have children.”
Deborah Neary serves as the executive director for the Midlands Mentoring Partnership and leads the efforts of this newly-formed collective impact organization. She and her husband have cared for 8 foster children.
Lyndi Rongisch opened Aerial Bombshell! New to Omaha, her classes focus on two different forms of exercise: aerial hammock (yoga) and pole fitness. With the pole fitness, you can burn 450 calories in one class! Jody and I are there!

Melissa Stephens: Owner of The Cordial Cherry, Melissa just opened her second business: Stories Coffeehouse. It’s the first of its kind and it is designed to be an umbrella company to help new women business owners get started. Brian Bogdanoff: A former Omaha police detective who wrote the book, ‘Three Bodies Burning’, about the investigation of one of Omaha’s most gruesome drug-related homicides. He was the lead investigator in the case.

Laurie Richards: She is a trained pianist and flutist. Laurie discovered a non-traditional way of teaching piano: Simply Music. She has opened “Keys to Harmony, LLC” – by Rockbrook Village. Simply Music is a revolutionary Australian piano method and all ages and abilities are welcome. “A world where everyone plays.”

Nancy Rips and Tom Ker: Nancy Rips is the book maven of the Midwest. She wrote her fourth book: ‘My First Berkshire ABC’. Tom Kerr is the illustrator. It is a very colorful and educational book about Berkshire Hathaway! Ex: “A is for Acme, B is for Borsheims, C is for Clayton, D is for Dairy Queen”. Both kids and adults will learn from this book and the illustrations are fantastic! Tom is an internationally recognized illustrator and cartoonist. Sold at the Bookworm in Omaha.
Tracy Shell: Co-founder of Clementine Porcelain. The Plate Project: functional porcelain plates that are decorated by children. The kids know that they are making the plates that will be sold in order to make money for the Food Bank of the Heartland. This is a creative project for kids and they learn that they are helping other children.
Michael Fitzsimmons: I’ll bet you’ve never heard anyone play a ‘hang.’ Well, Jody and I hadn’t either, until Michael Fitzsimmons, percussionist and award-winning composer, brought one to the radio station and played it for us. These sounds are like nothing you’ve heard before – very ethereal and spiritual. You’re in for a real treat!
Almeda Berkey – Conductor, lyric soprano and lyricist. Co-founded Nebraska’s Professional Chorale Soli Deo Gloria Cantorum in 1988. 46 years conducting credits. Master of music degree in voice. Played keyboard with Mannheim Steamroller since 1973. Married to Jackson.
Jackson Berkey – Composer, pianist, teacher, Jackson’s published catalog offers over 400 titles encompassing choral, chamber ensemble band and concerti. Best-known nationally as a pianist and recording artist. He celebrated 39 years as featured keyboardist with Mannheim Steamroller. Married to Almeda.
John Beasley – Actor of screen, stage and television. HIs movies include: The Apostle, Rudy, the General’s Daughter and The Sum of All Fears. John stars in the tv sitcom The Soul Man with Cedric the entertainer which will start its second season on June 19th.
Ezra & Adeev Potash – The Potashim! Identical twin 19-year old musicians. Adeev plays the trumpet, Ezra the bass trombone and tuba. Live performance in the studio! They play every year at the Berkshire Shareholders Party and have their own website.
Debra Joy Groesser – Not only is she the “First Lady” of Ralston, but she is a renowned Nebraska artist whose landscape paintings are sold all over the country. Her portrait of Richard and Mary Holland is hanging in the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha.
Leo Adam Biga – Author, journalist and blogger. He “Celebrates the stories of people, their passions and their magnificent obsessions.” He speaks about director Alexander Payne and his new movie, Nebraska. Biga’s book. Alexander Payne: His Journey in Film, A Reporter’s Perspective 1998-2012 is available online and at The Bookworm in Omaha.
Kerry Ecklebe – Dancer, actress and model. Director of Education at the Humane Society.
Pippa White – She is in her 17th year as a storyteller. She calls her ‘One’s Company” productions part storytelling, part theatre and part history. Pippa has toured 31 states with her one woman shows. Her shows include: Voices from Ellis Island, The Story of the Orphan Train, Woman’s Work, A Tribute to Teachers and more.
Kirsten Kluver – Actress, dancer and singer, she is currently performing in the Blue Barn’s “The 39 Steps”. Licensed massage therapist and free-spirited artist.
